This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices using Go and Java/Quarkus within our domain-oriented architecture, covering customer, account, transactional, and shared domains.
• Take full ownership of services from start to finish, including architecture, implementation, testing, deployment to QA/SBX/PROD, monitoring, and being on-call for the products you deliver.
• Create event-driven and REST integrations between services (Pub/Sub, service-to-service REST through our private-proxy mesh), with strong assurances concerning idempotency, reconciliation, and failure management (dead-letter/reprocess, ensuring no silent data loss).
• Model and enhance data across MongoDB and SingleStore/MemSQL, ensuring consistency in dual-write flows between the display source of truth and what card authorization validates.
• Deploy via our CI/CD process (Jenkins shared pipelines, containerized deployments to GKE/Kubernetes on GCP), managing configurations and secrets through GCP Secret Manager.
• Write clean, self-documenting, and well-tested code; engage in code reviews and help elevate the engineering standards for correctness and simplicity.
• Collaborate across functions with Product, Infra/Platform, and other backend teams to break down epics into deliverable, incremental outputs.
• Implement observability (structured logging, metrics, tracing) and utilize it to troubleshoot production issues while continuously enhancing reliability and performance.
• Contribute to the creation of technical design documentation, architecture diagrams, and shared conventions/scaffolding to scale the team effectively.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Over 5 years of experience in building and operating backend services in a production environment, preferably within the Banking or Fintech industries.
• Strong expertise in at least one of Go or Java (Quarkus/Spring or similar), with a willingness to work across both languages in a polyglot setting.
• Significant experience with microservices and distributed systems, including REST APIs, asynchronous/event-driven messaging (Pub/Sub, Kafka, or similar), service boundaries, and versioned contracts.
• Practical experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred), containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, SingleStore/MySQL/Postgres) and a keen attention to data consistency in money-critical processes.
• Profound understanding of reliability patterns — including idempotency, retries, reconciliation, and graceful degradation — and their importance in managing real money transactions.
• Knowledge of fintech/payments concepts (such as card authorization, ledgers, transfers, and credit) is a valuable asset.
• Health insurance
• Retirement plans
• Professional development opportunities
