Back-End Team Leader, Go

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malta.

📋 Description

• Lead and guide a team of Go engineers by establishing clear expectations, conducting code reviews, and promoting ongoing improvement.

• Assume full responsibility for the backend roadmap, ensuring dependable delivery while maintaining high-quality standards.

• Collaborate with the Software Architect to convert the technical vision into actionable plans.

• Design and sustain high-performance, scalable backend services and APIs developed in Go.

• Manage the team's AWS infrastructure, overseeing architecture decisions, deployment, monitoring, and cost efficiency.

• Cultivate a culture of accountability, clean code practices, and thorough testing within the engineering team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of backend engineering experience with a strong focus on Go and a proven history of leading engineering teams.

• Demonstrated capability to manage, mentor, and develop engineers—skilled in providing feedback, resolving obstacles, and maintaining team momentum.

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, SQS, and CloudWatch.

• Profound understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and designing for high availability at scale.

• Strong expertise in REST API design, relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL), and containerization using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.

• Knowledge of observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.

• Exceptional English communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with engineers, architects, and non-technical stakeholders.

• Proficient in utilizing AI technologies.

• Nice to Have: Experience in iGaming, Fintech, or other high-volume, regulated industries.

• Acquainted with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.

• Familiarity with PHP.
