Back-end Engineer – Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Architect, implement, and evolve the central gateway of the Artificial Intelligence platform;

• Define and implement routing, authentication, authorization, and traffic control standards using Kong;

• Design and maintain integrations via WebSocket and Webhook at scale, ensuring resilience and traceability;

• Establish API contracts, security policies, and SLOs for the gateway;

• Lead architectural integration decisions in collaboration with security, platform, and business teams;

• Continuously monitor and optimize the performance, latency, and availability of the gateway in production;

• Produce reference architectural documentation and conduct technical reviews with teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid and proven experience in backend development using Java, Python, or Go;

• Experience in exposing endpoints for AI/ML models and their specific integration standards;

• Proficiency in Kong or equivalent API gateways in high-scale environments, such as NGINX, Apigee, or AWS API Gateway;

• Expertise in integration protocols including REST, WebSocket, Webhook, and gRPC, with advanced design and troubleshooting skills;

• Deep understanding of API security, including OAuth2, mTLS, JWT, rate limiting, and WAF;

• Experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS, and distributed architectures;

• Mastery of containers and orchestration in production using Docker and Kubernetes;

• Knowledge of service mesh technologies, such as Istio or Linkerd, and their architectural implications;

• Expertise in observability with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, and Grafana, focusing on performance troubleshooting;

• Experience with event-driven architectures like Kafka or SQS in high throughput contexts;

• Previous experience in regulated financial environments with strict auditing and compliance requirements.
