Back-End Engineer, Java-Spring

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications and RESTful APIs utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Deploy, manage, and scale microservices on AWS using Docker and Kubernetes technologies.

• Integrate production-ready LLMs such as Claude, OpenAI, or Gemini into backend processes.

• Architect and oversee SQL and NoSQL data layers to ensure performance and scalability.

• Take ownership of features from deployment through monitoring, troubleshooting, and debugging in production.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system architecture, testing, and reliability.

• Maintain consistent overlap with Central Time teams during standard business hours in Austin.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4–7 years of hands-on experience in developing production backend applications at the Software Engineer II level.

• Strong expertise in Java, with proficiency in Spring Boot and REST API design.

• Hands-on experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Experience in deploying and managing AWS services using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical experience in integrating production-grade AI models/LLMs, such as Claude, OpenAI, or Gemini.

• Proven ability to own features throughout deployment, monitoring, and production debugging processes.

• Fluent in English with outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Consistent overlap with Central Time teams during standard Austin business hours.

• Nice-to-have: Experience with the Saga pattern and Transactional Outbox.

• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Kafka or RabbitMQ and event-driven architecture.

• Nice-to-have: Experience with Cucumber for BDD and automated testing.

• Nice-to-have: Background in building autonomous AI agents.
