AWS Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Design and create secure, scalable infrastructure solutions on AWS utilizing tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.

• Revamp organization-wide environments, establishing standardized multi-account landing zones, unified IAM models, and automated compliance guardrails that adhere to CIS benchmarks.

• Standardize fundamental cloud networking aspects, encompassing DNS management, traffic segmentation, routing patterns, and secure connectivity across clouds and within the same cloud.

• Oversee containerized applications through Docker and Kubernetes/EKS, ensuring maximum performance, scalability, and the enforcement of zero-trust network policies.

• Develop and enhance end-to-end deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and generate custom automation scripts using Python, Bash, or Go.

• Establish and sustain comprehensive logging, monitoring, and alerting systems (CloudWatch, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, ELK) to boost operational readiness and minimize downtime.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical experience with essential AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation).

• Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code, particularly with Terraform and Terragrunt.

• Thorough understanding of Docker and container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes / AWS EKS).

• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.

• Experience in setting up monitoring, tracing, and logging systems (CloudWatch, Prometheus, ELK, Grafana).

• Capable of functioning effectively in an Agile/Scrum team environment, with excellent communication skills for documenting architecture clearly.

• Experience in Financial Services, banking, or highly regulated/audited environments (SOC2, compliance frameworks) is preferred.

• Previous involvement in cloud cost optimization (FinOps), capacity planning, and resource lifecycle management is preferred.

• Knowledge of GitOps workflows (ArgoCD/Flux) is preferred.
