AWS Cloud Optimization Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Analyze AWS usage and cost data across various applications and environments to gain insights into spending patterns and trends.

• Identify and implement opportunities for cost optimization, including rightsizing, scheduling, storage enhancements, and eliminating unused resources.

• Collaborate with application teams, architects, and engineers to suggest cost-effective architectural and operational improvements.

• Review application infrastructure and cloud designs to ensure effective and responsible use of AWS services.

• Develop dashboards, reports, and KPIs that offer clear visibility into cloud expenditures, savings, and anomalies.

• Advocate for and support FinOps best practices, encompassing governance, tagging standards, forecasting, and ongoing cost accountability.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience with AWS services in a role focused on DevOps, cloud engineering, or architecture.

• Strong understanding of AWS cost drivers, including services like EC2, RDS, S3, EKS/ECS, Lambda, networking, and data platforms.

• Proven experience in analyzing cloud usage data and converting insights into actionable recommendations for cost optimization.

• Knowledge of contemporary application architectures, including containers, microservices, and cloud-native deployment patterns.

• Familiarity with AWS cost management tools, such as Cost Explorer, budgets, and reporting or analytics dashboards.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey both technical and financial concepts to varied audiences.
