This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership and enhance the enterprise AI strategy alongside the CIIO and enterprise IT leadership.
• Convert the Horizon AI Framework into a prioritized, funded, and accountable portfolio of initiatives.
• Outline the annual AI investment roadmap in alignment with H1, H2, and H3 objectives.
• Provide recommendations to the AI Executive Council, incorporating ROI models and risk assessments.
• Foster relationships with clinical, financial, and operational leaders across four business units.
• Assess and endorse new AI capabilities and emerging technologies.
• Lead the AI Transformation Hub, managing its bi-weekly cadence, initiative registry, intake discipline, and go/no-go decisions within thresholds.
• Oversee the monthly AI Executive Council's operational rhythm, which includes agendas, portfolio scorecards, escalation packages, ROI reports, and follow-through on decisions.
• Implement the 90-day gate process, making scaling, stopping, or pivoting decisions within authority limits.
• Maintain the enterprise AI initiative registry, ensuring each initiative has an owner, Horizon designation, and active gate status.
• Manage mandatory HIPAA/compliance gates for initiatives that involve PHI, clinical workflows, or patient data.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of governance and conduct After Action Report/retrospective processes.
• Propel governance and process enhancements with measured outcomes before and after implementation.
• Monitor initiative-level ROI, identify risks, and initiate corrective actions for underperforming initiatives.
• Develop and sustain the enterprise AI ROI tracking framework with validation from Finance.
• Ensure that active initiatives provide a definitive 90-day performance signal prior to H2 or scaling investments.
• Collaborate with business unit leaders to translate AI capabilities into specific domain value.
• Prioritize AI use cases that offer high ROI and low risk in partnership with clinical, operational, and financial leaders.
• Manage the AI Solutions Team's engagement model and coordinate interim ownership for at-risk initiatives.
• Review AI vendor proposals and make recommendations within authority limits.
• Enforce fixed-fee, defined-scope contracting for AI vendors and coordinate due diligence with Procurement, Legal, and IT Security.
• Stay informed about the AI vendor landscape across clinical AI, automation, documentation, revenue cycle, and population health.
• Ensure adherence to the Responsible AI framework, covering clinical safety, bias review, explainability, regulatory compliance, data minimization, and human oversight.
• Verify that clinical AI tools complete mandatory safety assessments prior to go-live.
• Identify FDA SaMD-qualifying tools and engage regulatory counsel before clinical deployment.
• Track and report AI-related compliance, safety, and reputational risks.
• Lead, develop, and hold accountable the Director of Emerging Technology.
• Promote enterprise AI fluency through training, communication, and change management.
• Recruit and nurture AI talent as the portfolio expands.
• Represent Mosaic in partnerships with vendors, industry working groups, and peer networks.
• Over 10 years of progressive experience in leading large-scale business transformations, including at least 5 years managing enterprise-wide, multi-entity transformation programs.
• A proven history of advancing transformation initiatives from concept to operational reality, where technology, frontline operations, and data were pivotal to outcomes.
• Experience overseeing governance and prioritization for complex initiative portfolios in regulated or compliance-heavy environments, covering intake, gating, vendor selection, and resource allocation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional governance bodies and navigate C-suite-level conflicts without direct line authority.
• Proficient in delivering results through influence and cross-functional leadership in complex, matrixed, multi-entity organizations.
• Experience in healthcare, health plans, or other highly regulated industries is advantageous, though not mandatory.
• Genuine interest in and familiarity with the application of AI in enterprise transformation.
• Proven capability to manage large, complex vendor relationships with a focus on fixed-fee commercial discipline.
• Strong working knowledge of AI and ML technologies, including large language models, generative AI, predictive analytics, and NLP.
• Ability to assess vendor claims, evaluate technical risks, and guide decisions between building and buying solutions.
• Familiarity with healthcare AI platforms and vendors, including ambient clinical documentation, clinical decision support, care management AI, and revenue cycle automation.
• Understanding of data governance and data infrastructure needs, including data pipelines, model lifecycle management, monitoring, and drift detection.
• Awareness of FDA SaMD regulatory pathways and HIPAA requirements for AI tools in clinical and patient-facing contexts.
• Skilled in clearly communicating AI strategy, risk, and portfolio performance to executive, clinical, financial, and operational stakeholders.
• Comfortable designing and managing governance structures while enforcing governance discipline.
• Adopts a fixed-fee, defined-ROI approach to vendor engagements, build decisions, and resource allocation.
• Capable of managing 14 or more concurrent initiatives.
