This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.
• Spearhead the development of intricate automation solutions, encompassing packaging automation, material handling interfaces, and system integrations.
• Convert customer operational needs into technical system architectures and solution designs.
• Lead and direct solutions to seamlessly integrate with wider warehouse ecosystems, including AS/RS, robotic picking, and other goods-to-person systems.
• Provide consultation on box design and dimensions utilizing best practices, industry insights, and data-driven consulting through the Precube’it! (bin packing algorithm tool).
• Create specifications, system descriptions, and performance assumptions.
• Assess feasibility, risks, and limitations for automation initiatives.
• Function as a senior technical partner during the pre-sales and solution definition stages.
• Assist in customer meetings, site visits, and technical workshops.
• Articulate solution concepts, technical trade-offs, and value propositions to both technical and executive stakeholders.
• Employ tools (bin-packing algorithms) to showcase solution performance and value.
• Develop and present ROI/COI-driven business cases, effectively communicating financial and operational value to stakeholders.
• Educate strategic partners such as consultants, integrators, and 3PLs about the portfolio and its added value within comprehensive solutions.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and field teams to address technical challenges.
• Ensure that solutions comply with Ranpak engineering standards and best practices.
• Act as a subject matter expert in automation and systems engineering.
• Keep abreast of automation technologies, controls, and industry developments.
• Provide feedback to product management and R&D based on practical field experience.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechatronics, or a related discipline).
• Substantial experience in automation, material handling, or industrial systems engineering, preferably in intralogistical applications.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing complex automated systems.
• Strong comprehension of: Industrial automation and system integration, controls architecture (PLC/HMI concepts), and mechanical and electrical system interfaces.
• Inquisitive, proactive, collaborative, and hands-on approach.
• Experience in a customer-facing, solutions-oriented role.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25–45% of the time.
