This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• This role supports the Auto Physical Damage Operations by managing material damage claims for insurance policies issued by the Interinsurance Exchange, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and statutory requirements.

• The main responsibilities involve assessing and evaluating vehicle damage to aid in drafting estimates, reviewing those estimates, verifying compliance, and determining repair expenses.

• Interaction with members, vehicle owners, body shops, and others is essential regarding the repair process and associated costs.

• Operates within defined limits and authority to resolve claims according to established procedures.

• The work typically involves repairs and total loss estimations of moderate to significant complexity.

• Conduct physical inspections to produce accurate and comprehensive estimates for vehicle repairs that comply with company guidelines, industry standards, and applicable laws and regulations.

• The evaluation will involve assessing accident-related damages and the vehicle's repairability.

• As part of the estimation process, engage and communicate with various individuals, including insureds, claimants, repair facilities, internal claims staff, and others.

• Clarify the claims process, repair procedures, coverage, or policy language as necessary. This may involve verbal discussions or written communication, all in compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.

• Provide clear and concise documentation to substantiate estimated damages through photos and detailed descriptions in claim files on company systems.

• Negotiate within settlement authority to resolve claims, including dispute resolution regarding repair costs and/or coverage.

• Collaborate with internal departments.

• Respond promptly to customer needs and inquiries.

• Must be prepared to assist with Catastrophe duties as necessary.

• This position necessitates a high level of discretion and independent judgment in analysis and problem-solving to effectively manage losses.

• Assess policy obligations by evaluating damage elements of the loss.

• Investigate and distinguish between allegations and facts in each loss.


⛳️ Requirements

• Associates degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

• Vocational training or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

• 4-6 years of claims experience preferred.

• 4-6 years of estimating experience preferred.

• Advanced knowledge of automotive repair processes, vehicle systems, and damage assessment.

• Ability to accurately estimate repair costs and a thorough understanding of estimating software platforms.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, general computer software, and advanced line of business technical software skills required (CCC Estimating Platform).

• Strong organizational and planning skills required.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

• Strong interpersonal skills required.

• Customer service experience is necessary.

• Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues related to damage assessment and repair costs.

• A commitment to ongoing education is essential.

• Must be adaptable to assist with Catastrophe duty within the extended organization.

• Valid Driver's License, acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles record, and minimum liability insurance issued by the state required.

• Collision Repair & Refinish Certification Tests (B Series) - Automotive Service Excellence.

• Industry certifications such as I-CAR Platinum or ASE preferred.
