This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Assists leadership in the planning, development, and management of the comprehensive audit program for the University.
• Engages in project planning and scope definition.
• Initiates, organizes, and conducts meetings with management to review strategic goals and objectives.
• Provides training and oversight to other audit team members, ensuring the adequacy of their scope and accuracy in their work.
• Guides, advises, and instructs junior auditors.
• Evaluates work papers and revises audit reports prepared by junior auditors.
• Collects, analyzes, and assesses evidentiary data to form an informed and objective opinion on the efficiency and effectiveness of client processes.
• Aids the Audit Director in ongoing risk assessment, which includes developing the audit schedule and prioritizing audits.
• Advocates for the mission of the Audit Department and its capacity to deliver expert advisory services to clients.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, along with 5 years of experience in an auditor/consultant role (internal audit and/or public accounting) is required.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Experience in the healthcare or higher education sectors is preferred.
• Experience with systems implementation is preferred.
• A strong understanding of internal controls, business processes, auditing procedures, and risk assessments is essential.
• Proficiency in PC functionality and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
• Ability to implement appropriate steps to complete projects is necessary.
• Capability to organize individuals and processes and create a resourceful workflow plan is required.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
• Proven problem-solving abilities are required.
• Familiarity with electronic work papers is necessary.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) upon hire is mandatory.
• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) upon hire is mandatory.
• CHIAP certification upon hire is required.
• Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) upon hire is required.
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) upon hire is required.
