Audit and Billing Compliance Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• The Audit & Billing Compliance Specialist operates under the general supervision of the Clinical Billing Compliance Director, reviewing medical records and billing system programs to assess coding and billing accuracy and to ensure adherence to all federal and state coding and billing regulations.

• Performs inpatient and outpatient coding and billing audit activities in accordance with the audit plan schedule, concentrating on hospital billing in alignment with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Systems (CMS) laws and regulations.

• Offers education and training to coding personnel as well as staff from ancillary departments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree along with 3 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient coding/auditing functions, or a High School diploma with 7 years of experience in the same fields.

• Must possess one of the following CURRENT coding certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

• Must demonstrate the ability to effectively present information verbally and possess strong written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.

• Must be capable of making sound decisions based on gathered information, interpreting regulatory data, communicating findings to physicians, and explaining the financial implications for the hospital.
