This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Edit and process voice recordings in German for applications in speech and text-to-speech.
• Execute silence trimming, breath reduction or removal, de-clicking, de-essing, and noise reduction tasks.
• Correct technical issues while maintaining the natural characteristics of speech.
• Prepare clean and consistent recordings that are suitable for machine learning pipelines.
• Work efficiently with large batches of speech audio.
• Review recordings for clipping, distortion, background noise, unwanted artifacts, loudness consistency, and level balance.
• Identify inconsistencies in recordings and rectify technical defects.
• Ensure that audio meets established technical and production specifications.
• Evaluate German pronunciation, fluency, naturalness, and overall quality of speech.
• Detect unnatural pronunciation, articulation, pacing, or delivery issues.
• Assess recordings for their appropriateness within speech and TTS training workflows.
• Work with structured speech datasets and large recording batches.
• Collaborate with teams involved in voice talent recordings and speech model training.
• Adhere to established audio quality assurance, file management, and evaluation processes.
• Provide technical feedback on recordings that need correction or replacement.
• Native or near-native fluency in German is mandatory.
• Professional experience in editing speech or voice recordings is essential.
• Background in editing speech, dialogue, narration, or voice recordings is required.
• Strong critical listening abilities for German-language speech are necessary.
• Practical knowledge of standards regarding speech audio quality is needed.
• Experience in identifying and remedying noise, clipping, distortion, clicks, sibilance, and similar defects is important.
• Hands-on experience with professional audio restoration or editing software is expected.
• Familiarity with high-volume audio datasets or structured production workflows is a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the capacity to maintain consistent quality at scale are required.
• Training in audio engineering, sound engineering, audio production, broadcast production, or a related field may be advantageous.
• Equivalent professional experience in speech editing, dialogue production, or audio post-production may also be taken into account.
• Experience with iZotope RX, Pro Tools, or similar audio restoration software is preferred.
• Previous work with text-to-speech platforms or vendors is desirable.
• Experience with speech machine learning, voice AI, or synthetic speech projects is beneficial.
• Familiarity with audio annotation or quality assurance pipelines is a plus.
• Experience preparing datasets for machine learning applications is advantageous.
• Background in directing or editing German voice talent is a plus.
• Knowledge of dialogue restoration and speech-specific post-production is beneficial.
• Experience in evaluating differences between natural and synthetic speech is preferred.
