This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Formulate extensive global patent strategies for vital pharmaceutical assets.
• Create patent application filing strategies that encompass innovations from discovery, clinical development, manufacturing, and beyond.
• Draft and manage patent applications across all jurisdictions.
• Evaluate freedom to operate.
• Analyze IP risks and devise strategic and tactical solutions that align with business goals and the competitive landscape.
• Provide counsel to teams and senior management regarding exclusivity, patentability, freedom to operate, and associated risks.
• Deliver legal advice in a clear and concise manner.
• Keep abreast of global laws, court rulings, and regulations pertinent to pharmaceutical products.
• Prioritize, lead, and oversee projects.
• Contribute to the development of new policies and procedures.
• Lead task-oriented teams.
• Foster efficiency, collegiality, and collaboration.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. institution.
• A minimum of ten years of post-JD experience as a practicing patent attorney in a law firm or industry setting.
• Extensive experience in formulating comprehensive patent strategies for pharmaceutical assets.
• Significant experience in patent prosecution.
• Currently admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Currently licensed to represent clients in patent matters before the USPTO.
• In good standing in each state and with the USPTO, with no disciplinary issues on record.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific discipline.
• Scientific background and prior work experience sufficient to effectively communicate with scientists and management regarding pharmaceutical discovery, development, manufacturing, and commercialization.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Experience with patent enforcement is advantageous.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and management across all levels of the organization.
• Proven leadership and effectiveness in working with senior leadership.
• Capability to build relationships with business partners and research and development teams.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry related to drug discovery or development, or substantial knowledge of drug discovery and development and/or pharmaceutical patent litigation.
• Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple complex projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
• Exceptional acumen in patent law.
