Associate, Scoring Service

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Assess responses to test questions submitted by teacher candidates in Massachusetts.

• Familiarize yourself with the scoring criteria.

• Engage in discussions and collaborate with fellow scorers during consensus scoring sessions.

• Identify and discuss various biases such as implicit bias, cultural bias, leniency bias, central tendency bias, halo effect, and methods to mitigate personal biases in scoring.

• Adhere to the quality and productivity standards set forth for the scoring program.

• Successfully complete a qualifying examination before beginning the scoring process.

• Participate in training sessions prior to the commencement of scoring.

• Attend scoring sessions one or two days every 4 to 8 weeks, from Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and approximately 4:30 p.m., including training.

• Be available to work between three to sixteen hours on the designated scoring days every 4-8 weeks.

• Possibly attend a brief orientation meeting before scoring starts.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or higher is required.

• A valid teaching certification in the relevant subject area is necessary.

• Must be actively teaching or have two (2) or more years of recent experience in a public school service role for the applicable subject area, OR have recently served as a college/university/program faculty member who trains candidates for the subject, OR possess a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree and currently teach courses in that subject area as a graduate student.

• Basic computer proficiency (keyboard, mouse) is essential.

• Ability to remain seated for extended durations.

• Must maintain a confidential work environment.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.

• Both active and recently retired professionals may be eligible to participate in scoring.
