Associate Principal Engineer, Data Architecture – Functional Architecture

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Define, implement, and oversee enterprise data architecture standards, policies, and frameworks within the designated business domain.

• Ensure that data architecture artifacts, data products, and data deliveries adhere to enterprise governance, quality, and regulatory standards.

• Lead data modeling efforts within the domain and ensure consistency with enterprise and global data models.

• Develop and maintain current, transitional, and target-state data architectures and data flows across various business domains.

• Drive architectural decisions for enterprise data platforms, analytical solutions, and strategic data initiatives.

• Establish and facilitate forums for data governance, architecture review boards, and decision-making processes.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data owners, technology teams, and enterprise architects to ensure alignment on data standards and architectural roadmaps.

• Provide architectural leadership for initiatives related to regulatory reporting and business transformation across Risk, Finance, Treasury, Compliance, or Transaction Banking domains.

• Review and approve solution and data architecture artifacts to ensure compliance with enterprise standards and best practices.

• Monitor emerging technologies and trends in modern data architecture, recommending innovative solutions that align with the organization's strategic objectives.

• Contribute to the creation of enterprise data strategy, governance capabilities, and future-state architecture roadmaps.

• Advocate for the adoption of enterprise data governance, metadata management, and data quality practices throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 9 years of total experience.

• Extensive experience in Data Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Data Management, or similar roles within the Financial Services sector.

• Strong domain expertise in one or more of the following areas: Risk, Finance, Treasury, Compliance, Transaction Banking, or Capital Markets.

• Comprehensive understanding of financial products such as Loans, Deposits, Bonds, Derivatives, Swaps, and Options.

• Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting frameworks, including FINREP, ILAAP, CCR, STE, TTR, and other EMEA regulatory requirements.

• Proven track record in designing and implementing enterprise data architecture, governance frameworks, and target-state data architectures.

• Demonstrated experience in establishing governance operating models, architecture review forums, and enterprise data standards.

• Strong proficiency in enterprise data modeling and industry-standard data models like FSLDM and BIRD.

• Experience in designing enterprise data flows, integration architectures, and cross-domain data solutions.

• Familiarity with modern data architecture patterns, including Data Lake, Data Mesh, Data Fabric, Hybrid Architectures, and AI/Agentic data ecosystems.

• Excellent skills in stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and influence.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or similar technologies.

• Experience with enterprise data governance platforms like Collibra.

• Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture tools such as LeanIX, Ardoq, or equivalent platforms.

• Experience in evaluating and selecting enterprise data technologies and architecture tools.

• Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms, metadata management, master data management (MDM), and data quality frameworks.
