This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +7 more states.
• Ensure the timely and efficient peer review process for all submissions.
• Address and resolve queries or concerns raised by vendors, Customer Care, or other PLOS colleagues in a professional manner and within required timelines, or escalate appropriately.
• Collaborate with colleagues across PLOS to identify and eliminate barriers to submission.
• Proactively identify inefficiencies, variations, or backlogs in workflow to diagnose ongoing issues.
• Troubleshoot persistent issues related to manuscripts, workflows, or systems, providing expertise and advice, and exercising judgment to resolve these issues or escalate them to the Peer Review Operations Manager or other relevant colleagues.
• Raise data-driven recommendations for ongoing journal operations and workflow enhancements to the Peer Review Operations Manager.
• Participate in workflow projects and initiate proposals as requested, undertaking operations projects and initiatives as directed by the Peer Review Operations Manager.
• Act as the daily liaison with vendor representatives, monitoring quality and timeliness performance against established target thresholds and KPIs.
• Contribute to other operational research outputs related to PLOS’s mission as needed, ensuring that our journal workflows are optimized to promote scientific openness and transparency.
• A university degree or equivalent; a scientific discipline is advantageous.
• Exceptional written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in addressing challenges.
• Possess a growth mindset and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• Ability to maintain a positive and professional customer service demeanor.
• Capable of working effectively with vendors, authors, editors, customers, and colleagues from diverse international backgrounds.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, various file types, and file conversions.
• Able to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
• Skilled in setting priorities and working independently.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism in the workplace.
