Associate National Director, Corporate Development – Northeast

📋 Description

• Oversee a portfolio of 100–125 corporate and corporate foundation prospects, categorized as cold, warm, and active, with the potential to contribute gifts of $100K or more.

• Cultivate a strong prospect pipeline by identifying and qualifying new opportunities through chapter connections, events, referrals, and research initiatives.

• Employ relationship mapping, CRM analysis, volunteer networks, and strategic outreach to pinpoint decision-makers, establish entry points, and arrange meetings with potential partners.

• Ensure steady pipeline growth, precise forecasting, and timely progression through each stage of the pipeline.

• Independently lead all prospect gift strategies up to $250,000; collaborate with the AVP on strategies for gifts of $250,000 and above.

• Create tailored proposals, presentations, business cases, and partnership opportunities aimed at advancing prospects through the pipeline.

• Meet assigned annual revenue targets (typically $750K in the first year, with an increase to $1M–$2M in subsequent years).

• Act as the strategic advisor for Corporate Development across seven to eight assigned territories, collaborating with staff and volunteers to enhance strategy, pipeline growth, prospect qualification, and opportunity advancement, thereby meeting corporate development revenue goals and budgetary expectations.

• Collaborate with territory staff and volunteers to identify, qualify, and advance local and regional corporate prospects, including those with potential for national partnerships.

• Guide and cooperate with territories on relationship mapping, prospect engagement, meeting preparation, partner positioning, ownership, and next steps, utilizing clear CRM documentation.

• Partner with Leadership Giving to identify donors with ties to corporate prospects and corporate contacts with major gift potential; work together on shared engagement strategies to optimize philanthropic impact.

• Create tools, resources, templates, and best practices that reinforce the corporate development strategy established by the AVP and enhance territory execution.

• Conduct training sessions for territory staff and volunteers on corporate development strategies, prospecting, pipeline development, and opportunity advancement.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of Breakthrough T1D’s mission, research portfolio, advocacy priorities, and strategic initiatives; represent this knowledge authoritatively to corporate leaders, volunteers, and stakeholders.

• Keep accurate CRM documentation, pipeline reports, revenue forecasts, and budget projections.

• Work in conjunction with Marketing, Mission, Finance, Legal, Field Leadership, Executive Leadership, and other teams to develop, approve, and advance complex corporate partnerships.

• Ensure adherence to corporate partnership guidelines, Corporate Review Committee requirements, and organizational approval processes.

• Engage volunteers, board members, mission partners, and other key stakeholders to enhance prospect engagement.

• Stay informed on corporate philanthropy, sponsorship, and social impact trends to uncover new opportunities.

• Represent Breakthrough T1D at prospect meetings, industry events, conferences, and other business development activities.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in corporate partnerships, business development, fundraising, sponsorship sales, consultative sales, or a related domain.

• Proven track record of identifying, cultivating, negotiating, and securing six- and seven-figure corporate partnerships that enhance brand visibility and fundraising outcomes for national nonprofit organizations is preferred.

• Experience within a matrixed, chapter-based organization or similarly complex environment is preferred.

• Exceptional writing, presentation, and communication skills, with a background in developing and delivering sales presentations to both large and small audiences.

• Strong relationship-building, negotiation, conflict resolution, and consensus-building abilities, capable of managing competing priorities and gaining support from corporate partners, volunteers, field staff, and internal stakeholders.

• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced setting while juggling multiple priorities, deadlines, and intricate partnership opportunities.

• Proficiency in Salesforce or a similar CRM, with strong data management skills and an analytical approach to portfolio management.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, possessing strong resource development capabilities and the capacity to use Word and PowerPoint to craft compelling proposals, presentations, and partner-facing materials.

• Competence in utilizing standard office equipment and technology, including telephones, computers, and video conferencing platforms.

• Capability to occasionally lift and transport materials weighing up to 15–20 pounds (e.g., event materials, training resources).

• Willingness to travel (up to 30% of the time) for extended durations, including weekends.

• A college degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
