This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +1 more state.
• Oversee medical and technical operations of the clinical laboratory.
• Execute or assign duties of clinical consultant, technical supervisor, general supervisor, and testing personnel while ensuring optimal performance.
• Ensure that clinical laboratory responsibilities, educational initiatives, strategic planning, and research and development align with laboratory requirements.
• Be available for on-site, phone, or electronic consultations.
• Guarantee that testing systems deliver quality services throughout the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic stages.
• Maintain suitable laboratory conditions, safe working environments, and test methodology capabilities.
• Validate and verify new tests before implementation.
• Collaborate with product development to integrate laboratory regulations and operational needs into test development processes.
• Ensure that personnel conduct test methods accurately and reliably.
• Establish and uphold quality control, quality assurance, and analytical performance programs.
• Confirm that patient results are reported only when systems are functioning correctly, with any deviations documented and addressed.
• Ensure that test reports provide all necessary information for interpretation.
• Offer consultation to clients regarding the quality and interpretation of test results.
• Support Abbott’s Quality Management System along with the company’s mission and values.
• Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic degree with a valid license to practice medicine or osteopathy, or a doctoral degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution.
• Certification by a Health and Human Services-approved board at the time of hire, maintained throughout employment, or qualifying laboratory-director experience prior to February 24, 2003.
• Alternative qualifications for individuals qualified under applicable State law on or before February 28, 1992.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a clinical diagnostics laboratory.
• For the grandfathered laboratory-director pathway: at least 2 years of laboratory training or experience, along with 2 years of directing or supervising high-complexity testing.
• Proven ability to perform essential duties with or without accommodation.
• Current authorization to work in the country where the position is held.
• Must be able to work without employer sponsorship or visa sponsorship takeover.
