This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Serve as the primary legal advisor for our data and research teams regarding legal matters related to model development, and create frameworks that enable research to progress swiftly and confidently.
• Collaborate with our product teams to launch products and features that enhance user satisfaction.
• Draft and evaluate consumer-oriented terms, policies, disclosures, and marketing materials associated with our products, ensuring they are accessible to customers rather than legal professionals.
• Continue to expand our privacy program and effectively communicate its significance to customers, thereby strengthening their trust in our offerings.
• Stay informed on the evolving AI legal frameworks on a global scale, interpret these developments into actionable principles and policies for our teams, and assist Deepgram in establishing a clear stance on responsible AI innovation.
• Cultivate extensive knowledge regarding the legal issues shaping AI today, and contribute to the advancement of our company and the broader industry’s perspectives on these topics.
• Establish the AI-centric legal function at Deepgram by developing workflows and systems that enhance our team’s influence.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from a U.S. accredited law school and 7–15 years of experience in legal practice (or more), either in-house, in a firm, or both.
• Proven experience advising product, research, or engineering teams on legal issues arising from AI development and deployment.
• Comprehensive understanding of key issues relevant to our work: privacy, intellectual property, data licensing, consumer protection, and the international AI regulatory environment. Expertise in some areas, with a willingness to learn about others.
• Ability to navigate the complexities of law, embracing the grey areas while providing clear and actionable legal guidance.
• An AI-integrated legal practice — processes you have implemented in your own work, not merely tools you have utilized.
