Associate Director/Director, Strategy, Real World Evidence, Late Phase

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Real World study design and strategy throughout Syneos Health.

• Create innovative solutions based on Real World Data (RWD).

• Drive growth, uncover opportunities, and boost sales for the RWLP Business Unit.

• Collaborate with current and prospective clients to assess their Real World Evidence (RWE) needs, acting as the intermediary between sponsors and internal Syneos teams.

• Partner closely with RWLP operations teams to define project delivery requirements and guarantee post-delivery customer satisfaction.

• Work in conjunction with Business Development to pinpoint and cultivate early engagement and potential sales opportunities while consistently managing sales enablement materials.

• Act as the primary point of contact both internally and externally for conflict resolution, expectation setting, and escalation processes.

• Record all communications in Salesforce for tracking and metrics purposes.

• Provide accountability, preparation, and leadership for customer ballparks, Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), presentations, proposal defenses, and bid defense meetings (BDMs).

• Analyze department sales data and overall opportunities, presenting findings to leadership.

• Coordinate essential medical/scientific input from external experts, consultants, and advisors.

• Represent Syneos Health at industry meetings, speaking engagements, booth exhibitions, and through the publication of scientific or industry-related articles.

• Engage in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), medical/scientific tools, training, and staffing requirements as needed.

• Identify and oversee the provision of RWLP vendor/partner services, focusing on developing and integrating service offerings that align with operational needs.

• Contribute account-level insights to recognize and mitigate operational risks and promote process improvements within the RWLP Business Unit.

• May require up to 40% travel.

• Lead or actively participate in departmental, project, leadership, and various other initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• BA/BS in life sciences, nursing degree, or equivalent education or related experience, with a background in the development of scientific studies and data analysis.

• PhD is preferred.

• Strong methodological expertise across various Real World study designs and methodologies.

• Extensive knowledge of RWD sources in the US and internationally, including their suitability for different study types.

• Preferred background in a senior-level position within pharma or a Contract Research Organization (CRO), though not mandatory.

• Therapeutic experience in Oncology, Cell & Gene Therapy, Rare Disease, Genomics, or Immunology is preferred.

• Must have experience managing clinical and Real World research projects across multiple functional areas.

• In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and the clinical development process.

• Essential qualities include flexibility, the ability to mentor and manage new staff, multitasking to meet deadlines, and delivering high-quality work in a dynamic environment.

• Requires strong presentation, documentation, interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach.

• Exceptional influencing and networking capabilities are a must.

• Must be comfortable in a customer-facing role while also providing technical expertise.

• A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of RWLP experience in a CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology company is required for the Director role (more experience necessary for the Senior Director position).
