Associate Director – Transmission

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee multiple client teams that cater to a diverse clientele, ensuring accountability for quality, efficiency, and performance.

• Articulate departmental objectives, track progress towards these goals, and assist in creating actionable plans to achieve them.

• Foster leadership alignment by effectively relaying corporate updates to team members and promoting corporate initiatives positively.

• Collaborate with Client Leads, Project Managers, and Business Development representatives to strategize project pipelines for optimal staff utilization.

• Formulate succession and realignment strategies to facilitate future growth and technical delegation.

• Mentor both direct and indirect staff, aiding in their technical development and career progression.

• Drive staff retention initiatives through meaningful engagement and strategic staffing choices.

• Provide insights and coordinate discussions on training, hiring, and other staffing matters such as promotions, salary increases, and performance evaluations.

• Ensure effective coordination between project management and design teams, addressing issues related to scope, schedule, and budget.

• Partner with Project Managers and Client Leads to manage risks, project write-offs, and ensure timely delivery within budget constraints.

• Utilize a structured method to balance new client opportunities against existing workload capacity.

• Assist with reporting obligations from the Director of Engineering.

• Engage in marketing and proposal development efforts.

• Take part in client engagement and relationship-building activities.

• Offer insights on revenue growth tactics and identify opportunities beyond core competencies while managing risks effectively.

• Regularly assess internal processes to enhance performance and boost team productivity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering or a related field.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• Over 12 years of experience in Transmission Line projects, preferably in a consulting environment.

• At least 5 years of experience in leading engineering teams and managing technical projects.

• Proven experience in balancing technical expertise with team mentorship and business strategy.

• Willingness to travel 25% of the time or more as needed.
