Associate Director of Programs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ethiopia.

📋 Description

• Create high-quality slide presentations and briefing documents for donor meetings, showcasing program data and updates on learning agendas in engaging and accessible formats.

• Develop presentation materials tailored for various audiences and purposes, such as internal staff gatherings, meetings with government partners, workshops with experts in language and curriculum, and ad hoc requests from the Communications team.

• Write and edit program updates, memos, and synthesis documents as necessary, ensuring they are clear, accurate, and aligned with Luminos’ voice and standards.

• Assist the Development team and Director of Programs with crafting proposals, ensuring that program narratives, scaling plans, and budget assumptions are accurate, well-supported, and internally consistent.

• Construct and maintain scenario-based scaling plans and cost models, translating programmatic assumptions—such as class sizes, regions, supervisor ratios, and cost-per-child calculations—into clear budget frameworks for various funding levels and scaling trajectories.

• Address requests from the Development team for program data, evidence, and technical content promptly and in an organized manner, participating in proposal review and refinement cycles as necessary.

• Work collaboratively with the team to keep program documentation current, including reach figures, model descriptions, and implementation timelines, for quick access during proposal and reporting activities.

• Take ownership of and continuously enhance project management infrastructure, including maintaining a RASCI matrix, project workplans, and milestone trackers.

• Set up and uphold efficient systems for tracking action items, decisions, and follow-ups across teams.

• Collaborate to manage the project’s SharePoint environment, ensuring files, templates, and reference documents are well-organized, consistently named, up-to-date, and accessible to appropriate personnel.

• Actively identify coordination gaps or process inefficiencies and suggest practical solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Amharic is mandatory.

• Outstanding writing skills, with the capability to convey complex program information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, from donors to government partners.

• Strong quantitative skills: the ideal candidate will be able to construct scenario-based budget models and cost-per-child calculations, as well as interpret and synthesize program dashboard data.

• Proficient in PowerPoint for creating polished and professional presentations; experience with data visualization tools is an added advantage.

• Demonstrated ability to design and manage project management systems, including workplans, RASCI matrices, and milestone tracking tools.

• Highly organized and capable of managing multiple complex workstreams simultaneously with minimal supervision.

• Experience working within or alongside government education systems in Ethiopia is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with structured pedagogy, accelerated education, or foundational literacy programs is a plus.
