This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Take operational leadership and responsibility for the Product Classification division.
• Develop and manage a metrics framework focused on classification accuracy, throughput, and quality.
• Set performance standards, service level agreements (SLAs), and escalation procedures across teams.
• Implement an operating rhythm that identifies issues early and promotes continuous improvement.
• Recruit, train, and cultivate a high-performing classification team.
• Hire and onboard Data Classification Analysts.
• Design onboarding programs and training curricula.
• Foster and sustain a culture of operational excellence.
• Encourage a team environment where accuracy is paramount.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with Engineering, Insights, and Data teams.
• Utilize artificial intelligence to enhance classification systems and discover automation opportunities.
• Over 8 years of experience in data analytics, data operations, category mapping, or consulting, including at least 4 years leading teams of 10 or more.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with SQL, Python, PySpark, or other programming languages to analyze and transform large, complex datasets; familiarity with GitHub and Databricks is a plus.
• A mindset focused on operational excellence — creating systems, metrics, and processes that can scale effectively.
• Demonstrated success in recruiting exceptional talent, developing training programs, and nurturing leaders within your team.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building processes from the ground up.
• Capable of clearly articulating complex concepts, both verbally and in writing.
• Strong sense of ownership with a passion for making a significant impact in a rapidly evolving company.
• Preferred: Experience in the data and classification domain, including familiarity with product taxonomies, categorization systems, e-commerce data, or related fields.
