This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Accountable for managing contracts for AbbVie brands with Medicaid PBMs by overseeing customer interactions and collaborating with Marketing, Finance, and field-based Area Access teams.

• Act as the primary liaison with Medicaid PBM customers.

• Build relationships at the state level to leverage Medicaid opportunities.

• Function as a subject matter expert to execute contracts, including direct agreements in partnership with the Area Access teams, MFN, etc.

• Align messaging with AAE teams to convey the value of the AbbVie portfolio, ensuring compliance with individual state criteria and safeguarding patient access to medications.

• Proactively identify customer risks and opportunities to guide bid strategies.

• Utilize financial and business insights to create contracting strategies that balance patient access, business objectives, and financial stewardship.

• Participate actively and serve as an expert for Medicaid legislation such as MFN and PDABs.

• Collaborate closely with the field Area Access team on messaging with state pharmacy directors, gathering insights to shape strategy, and ensuring clear contract terms at the state level.

• Develop and implement standardized dashboards for contract monitoring to ensure thorough tracking and compliance.

• Conduct analysis of Medicaid contracting by working with internal teams and external vendors.

• Collaborate across the Medicaid team for brand strategies, financial planning, resource generation, and sharing ideas.

• Establish strong working relationships with payer marketing by engaging in analytical rigor, strategic decision-making, and responsible management of AbbVie finances.

• Communicate clinical expertise and work with MOSLs to support customer engagements.

• Participate in high-priority internal meetings to represent customer perspectives, assist the Director of Medicaid in strategy development, and present business matters to leadership.

• Support the Director of Medicaid with internal upskilling sessions to enhance Medicaid understanding throughout the organization.

• Represent Medicaid innovation or pilot projects that are aligned with strategy.

• Coordinate with the pricing team for effective checkpoint processes, tracking, and contract execution.

• Lead or participate in cross-brand resource planning to align Medicaid impact with broader commercial objectives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.

• 5+ years of experience in market access or account management, ideally in a role that included direct contracting.

• 2+ years of experience in leadership and/or marketing within the healthcare or related industry.

• Experience working with Medicaid customers is preferred.

• Strong business acumen; ability to analyze diverse data sets using multiple tools and develop account/contracting strategies that support business goals.

• Proven success in sales performance and presentation skills, with the capability to present to leadership effectively.

• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a large, complex environment and influence various stakeholders to achieve results.

• Exhibit strong leadership skills; ability to lead without direct authority.

• Experience successfully leading diverse teams on complex projects or challenges to drive results.

• Possesses extensive scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge and is recognized as an expert resource by all relevant stakeholders.

• Proven understanding of how to maintain product pricing structures and market share through innovative strategies that align with AbbVie and customer objectives.

• Strong business acumen complemented by strategic and critical thinking skills.

• Effectively operates in a matrix environment.

• Valid driver’s license: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements.
