Associate Director – Management and Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide leadership and management assistance for a large, intricate, multi-country global initiative.

• Ensure the project follows a strategically coherent direction, manages growth effectively, and complies with donor regulations.

• Establish systems and oversee trackers to facilitate smooth project operations.

• Collaborate with contracts management services regarding subaward submissions, reviews, prioritization, tools, templates, and feedback.

• Evaluate and monitor donor-submitted workplans and no-cost extensions.

• Offer program management support for selected core-funded activities.

• Organize monthly meetings and supervise core partner sub-awards and their deliverables.

• Coordinate with the project management and operations team on management, compliance, performance, budget management, knowledge management, and risk management systems.

• Collaborate with management, project, and department-level operations leadership to mitigate risks and ensure staff comprehends financial and administrative processes.

• Act as the operations point of contact for troubleshooting and escalating implementation challenges.

• Maintain collaboration with chosen partners through communication, cooperation, and joint decision-making where appropriate.

• Oversee selected management and operations personnel.

• Perform other assigned duties.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in Business Administration, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field, or a comparable combination of relevant education and/or experience.

• Project Management (PM) Certification is preferred.

• Typically requires 10+ years of pertinent experience in business administration, project management transformation, change management, strategy consulting, or internal corporate strategy.

• At least 3 years of line management experience should be included in the relevant experience.

• Proven experience in USG and global health project management and implementation.

• Experience in large, multi-country global projects.

• Background working in a non-governmental organization (NGO).

• Effective knowledge of designing, implementing, and managing sector-specific and/or multi-sector/international development projects or programs funded by the US government or other international donors.

• Familiarity with funding mechanisms, general contracting, and reporting requirements.

• Understanding of donor planning and reporting systems.

• Knowledge of business development processes, particularly proposal development, within an international NGO context.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Sensitivity to cultural differences and awareness of political and ethical issues in countries outside the US.

• Fluency in English is required.

• Fluency in a second language such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Russian is a valuable asset.

• Proficiency in using personal computers/laptops, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams, mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

• Capability to spend long hours looking at a computer screen and performing repetitive keyboard tasks.

• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.

• Travel requirements of less than 10%.

• Must agree to appropriate screening checks, including reference, criminal record, terrorism finance, and misconduct disclosure checks.
