This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as the primary point of coordination for the Coalition, linking members, monitoring priorities, fostering information exchange, and ensuring accountability.
• Organize, facilitate, and support Coalition meetings, caucuses, and working groups.
• Enhance relationships among Coalition members and partners.
• Recognize gaps, challenges, and opportunities, and take proactive steps to address them.
• Develop a working understanding of the federal hydropower licensing process and associated policy frameworks.
• Assist Coalition members, Indigenous Tribes, and partners with hydropower licensing and policy matters.
• Coordinate and contribute to collaborative advocacy efforts, comments, letters, and strategy formulation.
• Aid in the design and delivery of tools, training, and resources that clarify complex policy processes.
• Oversee internal communications and distill complex information into clear updates and materials.
• Assist with external communications, storytelling, basic media engagement, and communications with funders.
• Lead the logistical planning and implementation of Coalition gatherings, meetings, and events.
• Support grant tracking, reporting, fundraising coordination, and budget management processes.
• Maintain organizational systems for projects, timelines, and Coalition resources.
• Engage in meetings with Coalition members, partners, and agencies.
• Travel occasionally to facilitate Coalition activities and relationship-building.
• Execute other duties as assigned.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in conservation, public policy, nonprofit coordination, or a related discipline; education may substitute for experience.
• A strong interest in environmental policy and a willingness to develop expertise in hydropower licensing and regulatory processes.
• Familiarity with the Federal Power Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, or NEPA is advantageous.
• Capability to coordinate complex projects or partnerships involving multiple stakeholders.
• Exceptional organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Initiative and aptitude for problem-solving.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate relationships across diverse partners, including Indigenous communities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize and convey complex information.
• Experience in facilitating meetings, supporting collaborative processes, or convening groups.
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Slack, MailChimp, and WordPress.
• Desirable experience in fundraising, grant coordination, or coalition-building.
• A commitment to equity, inclusion, and collaborative methods.
• A passion for the protection and restoration of rivers and watersheds.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• A valid U.S. driver’s license.
