Associate Director – Business Strategy

📋 Description

• Implement strategies that safeguard and enhance Year-over-Year WLN and WLS revenue in the public sector.

• Manage the operational execution of contract strategies, ensuring that target products adhere to strict compliance standards, pricing is secured, and solutions are fully orderable within internal systems.

• Actively oversee product lifecycles on current contracts, ensuring smooth transitions for End-of-Life (EOL) products and seamless integration of modern replacement solutions in accordance with government transition timelines and agency-specific migration requirements.

• Direct the partner strategy to identify and incorporate diverse suppliers into future bids and ongoing contract vehicles, ensuring compliance with public sector standards.

• Optimize the contract modification process to quickly onboard new Verizon technologies and pricing catalogs to active vehicles, reducing operational friction for field sales teams.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of highly skilled specialists (PTW, Contract Enablement, Partner Strategy).

• Evaluate team performance, cultivate a culture of accountability, and provide ongoing professional growth and strategic guidance.

• Offer key insights regarding hiring, promotions, advancements, and other personnel changes within the team.

• Collaborate closely with peer SLED (territory-based) and FED (account-based) Business Development and Capture teams to drive both new pursuits and essential contract recompetes.

• Act as the strategic link to the Product organization, ensuring Verizon develops and prioritizes suitable solutions for the evolving public sector marketplace.

• Align contract capabilities and technical product offerings with field sales strategies to enhance client execution.

• Work together to safeguard Verizon’s risk profile, solidify vendor relationships, and ensure contract compliance.

• Collaborate extensively with Verizon’s Legal and Contract Administration teams to interpret complex solicitations, reduce organizational conflict of interest (OCI) risks, and ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and state procurement regulations.

• Streamline operational workflows, ensuring optimization of past performance libraries, reporting standards, and modern AI proposal tools for maximum efficiency.

• Possess an exceptional ability to build relationships and foster alignment across diverse teams (Legal, Sourcing, Engineering, Sales) without direct authority.

• Demonstrate strong business acumen with a profound understanding of how public sector contract mechanics, catalog management, and compliance alignment directly affect frontline sales velocity and revenue recognition.

• Capable of transitioning effortlessly from high-level portfolio strategy to the intricate details of government contract compliance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of relevant work experience.

• A minimum of eight years of relevant experience is required, demonstrated through a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

• Experience in strategic planning, contract management, business enablement, or capture support within the Telecom, IT, or Government Contracting (GovCon) sectors is essential.

• Direct management experience leading highly specialized or technical teams is necessary.

• Comprehensive knowledge of public sector procurement frameworks, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), GSA Schedules, and significant SLED cooperative purchasing vehicles (e.g., NASPO).

• Willingness to travel up to 25% is required.
