This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Define and take ownership of the strategy for CHAI's Health Systems AI initiatives encompassing financing, supply chain, disease surveillance, and workforce management.
• Collaborate with Ministries of Health and high-ranking government officials to pinpoint priority use cases and co-create operational models, governance frameworks, and roadmaps for National Health Intelligence Centers.
• Build, oversee, and mentor a dynamic team across various country projects.
• Lead the identification, assessment, and responsible implementation of effective and sustainable AI tools.
• Develop prototypes and systematize AI-enabled workflows utilizing contemporary development and automation tools.
• Enhance government counterparts' capabilities to utilize AI tools in their everyday operations.
• Cultivate relationships with governments, donors, technology partners, and other stakeholders.
• Assist in fundraising efforts, proposal writing, and budget oversight.
• Represent CHAI's Health Systems AI initiatives at external events.
• Ensure alignment of the portfolio with the broader CHAI strategy and identify opportunities for collaboration.
• Travel frequently to CHAI program countries, including some multi-week assignments.
• A strong passion for AI and its potential to enhance health systems in low- and middle-income countries.
• 8 to 12+ years of pertinent professional experience, including engagement with LMIC governments on digital or technology projects.
• Proven capability to develop strategic vision and lead teams effectively.
• In-depth, practical expertise with modern AI tools and applying AI to enhance, automate, and systematize processes.
• Solid background or demonstrated interest in public health or global health sectors.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, particularly in engaging with senior government and external stakeholders.
• Capacity to think strategically, navigate ambiguity, and tackle challenges in a fast-paced, low-structure, multicultural environment.
• Willingness to travel regularly to CHAI program countries, including occasional multi-week assignments.
• Preferred: experience in designing or implementing digital health, data, or health information systems in LMIC contexts.
• Preferred: experience working with Ministries of Health or other senior government officials.
• Preferred: experience in fundraising, proposal development, or donor relations.
• Preferred: advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
