This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Prepare, evaluate, and modify agreements, including standard sales form agreements and non-standard contracts for customers, suppliers, distributors, clinical services, and consultancy.
• Familiarize yourself with Avantor's contracting policies and assess draft contracts according to those guidelines.
• Provide counsel to Sourcing, Sales, and IT regarding intricate IT vendor agreements and digital product contracts.
• Develop and enhance playbooks and templates to ensure uniform legal review across IT, security engagements, and technology agreements.
• Assist in the evaluation of data processing agreements.
• Ensure consistency with IT and business strategies.
• Refer complex legal and factual matters to senior attorneys and aid in their resolution.
• Establish, implement, and manage systems that promote efficient agreement creation, negotiation, oversight, and execution.
• Facilitate contract negotiations across various departments.
• Secure necessary internal approvals for contract terms and conditions.
• Identify opportunities for process enhancements.
• Handle file management and records retention responsibilities.
• Offer and accept constructive feedback while fostering a positive team environment.
• Engage with senior leadership regarding legal risks and potential solutions.
• Provide support and advice to Contracts Specialists.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
• At least 5–10 years of relevant professional experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
• Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while adhering to tight deadlines.
• Skill in translating technical concepts into actionable legal guidance for cross-functional teams.
• Exceptional judgment.
• Capability to collaborate effectively and work both independently and within a team.
• Proven experience in providing timely and strategic legal advice.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required.
• Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the bar of at least one US state or the District of Columbia.
• Must meet local legal licensing requirements.
• Advanced skills in contract negotiation.
• Ability to communicate legal risks and potential solutions to senior leadership.
