Associate Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Manage a diverse range of cases, including general liability defense, bodily injury, and professional liability.

• Operate under the guidance of a partner.

• Meet a minimum billing requirement (the specific amount is not mentioned in the posting).

• Draft, review, and respond to petitions, complaints, motions, and written discovery requests.

• Attend hearings and client meetings as needed.

• Prepare for and participate in depositions.

• Assist in the preparation for mediations and trials.

• Collaborate with the Jersey City office.

• Provide defense litigation services as part of Lydecker’s national litigation practice.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as outlined in the position overview; at least 3 years of civil defense litigation experience is mandatory.

• Must reside in Florida.

• Must hold a license to practice law in Florida.

• A Florida bar license in good standing is required.

• Minimum of a JD from an ABA-accredited law school.

• Preferable experience in general liability, bodily injury, property and casualty, or insurance defense litigation.

• Experience managing up to 15 cases simultaneously.

• Proven experience in attending and defending depositions as well as taking depositions.

• Experience making court appearances.

• Skilled in drafting motions and discovery documents.

• Mediation and trial experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Basic proficiency in computer operations, internet software, spreadsheet applications, and word processing software.

• Proficiency in Microsoft products is preferred.

• Ability to type and operate general office equipment.

• Self-driven and capable of working independently.

• Strong communication skills with clients.

• Clear and persuasive verbal communication; ability to listen, seek clarification, respond to inquiries, and actively participate in meetings.

• Clear and effective written communication; capable of editing for spelling and grammar, varying writing style, presenting numerical data effectively, and interpreting written information.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of client and firm information while adhering to ethical standards applicable to attorneys.
