Associate Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Prepare, review, and respond to petitions, complaints, motions, and written discovery.

• Attend hearings and client meetings upon request.

• Get ready for and participate in depositions.

• Aid in the preparation for and/or take part in mediation and trial proceedings.

• Must be willing and able to track billable hours.

• Perform any additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• This role mandates a California bar license in good standing.

• A minimum of a Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school is required.

• At least 2+ years of experience in civil defense litigation, ideally in areas such as General Liability, Mass Tort, Toxic Tort, Construction Defect, Labor and Employment, and/or insurance defense litigation.

• Previous experience should encompass managing up to 20 cases simultaneously, taking and defending depositions, court appearances, and drafting motions and discovery; mediation and trial experience is highly advantageous; experience in mentoring junior Associates is also a plus.

• Computer proficiency: Basic knowledge of computer operations, internet software, spreadsheet programs, and word processing software is essential; familiarity with Microsoft products is preferred.

• Capable of typing and operating office equipment.

• Self-motivated and a proactive self-starter, capable of working independently while maintaining strong client communication skills.

• Oral Communication: Communicates clearly and persuasively in various situations; listens actively and seeks clarification; responds effectively to inquiries; engages in meetings as needed.

• Written Communication: Writes clearly and informatively; edits for spelling and grammar accuracy; adapts writing style as necessary; effectively presents numerical data; able to read and interpret written information.

• Temperament: Able to work with minimal supervision; prioritizes and anticipates work requirements; performs well under occasional pressure and tight deadlines.

• Ethics: Maintains client and firm confidentiality at all times; understands and applies the general rules of ethical conduct applicable to lawyers.
