Associate Attorney

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Prepare and evaluate pleadings, motions, and various litigation-related documents pertaining to product liability or complex litigation cases.

• Draft, analyze, and respond to written discovery while managing the exchange of discovery documents among multiple parties.

• Formulate case strategies, defenses, and trial themes with increasing independence.

• Conduct research and analyze state and federal case law, statutes, and regulatory frameworks.

• Interview, prepare, and collaborate with fact witnesses, expert witnesses, and corporate representatives.

• Conduct and defend depositions of lay witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives.

• Present arguments on motions and engage in court appearances with appropriate supervision.

• Prepare pretrial reports and assist with case evaluations, exposure analysis, and risk assessments.

• Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, status conferences, and hearings.

• Contribute to innovative problem-solving and strategic planning for case resolutions.

• Assist in settlement negotiations with plaintiffs and opposing counsel.

• Build and nurture strong client relationships through proactive oral and written communication.

• Collaborate with and supervise paralegals and litigation support personnel.

• Support Shareholders, Partners, and Senior Counsel on intricate litigation matters.

• Meet annual billable hour targets and adhere to the firm's timekeeping policies.

• Engage in business development, networking, and client-facing activities.

• Participate in bar associations, professional organizations, and community activities.

• Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace environment.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by Management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

• Must be admitted to practice in California.

• 0–7 years of litigation experience, ideally in product liability, toxic tort, environmental, insurance defense, construction, or complex civil litigation.

• Prior experience as a paralegal, judicial clerk, intern, clinic participant, or extern also considered.

• Experience in a billable-hour law firm setting is preferred.

• A demonstrated interest in complex litigation and a willingness to develop expertise in specific subject areas.

• Strong client-service orientation is essential.

• Ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with a diverse range of clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.

• Self-motivated and organized, capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.

• Ability to perform effectively under pressure while maintaining professionalism.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
