Associate Architect – Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Identify, prioritize, and oversee engineering deliverables throughout the entire software development lifecycle.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to enhance technical product specifications.

• Design and implement robust applications utilizing high-performance, maintainable, and clean code.

• Optimize operational workflows and repetitive engineering tasks through automation tools and scripts.

• Diagnose, analyze, and enhance complex software systems for optimal performance.

• Perform validation and testing using test-driven development methodologies.

• Conduct peer code assessments and engage in continuous improvement feedback sessions.

• Work together with internal engineering teams and external partners to improve solution architecture.

• Ensure application stacks are in line with contemporary technical standards and industry best practices.

• Design, construct, and refine scalable web applications within a Java-based microservices framework.

• Direct software development from design and API implementation through to testing and performance enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of relevant experience.

• Demonstrated expertise in developing efficient, clean Java software for large-scale systems.

• Practical experience in architecting backend microservices using Spring Boot.

• Hands-on experience in creating frontend interfaces with React, Angular, or Vue.js.

• Technical knowledge of relational databases, including MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server.

• Experience in designing and implementing RESTful web API endpoints.

• Proficiency in test-driven development and automated testing practices.

• Familiarity with Generative AI coding assistants like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot in Spec-Driven Development workflows.

• Advanced skills in Git version control.

• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as DataDog and New Relic.

• Experience with testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, and RestAssured.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical discipline.

• Outstanding organizational, analytical, technical leadership, and collaborative teamwork abilities.

• Ability to work independently and lead initiatives with minimal oversight.

• Desirable skills: Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Ansible, Jenkins, Unix/Linux, IP networking, AWS, Microsoft Azure, OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect, multi-tenant SaaS, distributed systems, SOA, Python, Bash, Groovy, production support, site reliability escalation, and mentoring experience.
