Associate Actuary, Strategic Analytics

📋 Description

• Perform analysis, pricing, and risk evaluation to predict financial results.

• Oversee actuarial requirements specific to health plans and generate reports that support corporate strategy development.

• Act as the primary contact for all actuarial activities related to VBC contracts.

• Utilize expertise in mathematics, probability, statistics, finance, and business to compute financial results.

• Investigate and assess the effects of legislative changes.

• Evaluate cash reserves and liabilities to ensure the payment of future benefits.

• Analyze various data reports, identify trends and gaps, and propose actionable recommendations.

• Establish a fair basis for the distribution of funds for insurance benefits.

• Develop and revise actuarial reports.

• Engage in merger and acquisition assessments.

• Thoroughly review current valuation processes for strategic initiatives to identify gaps, overlapping values, or flawed assumptions.

• Independently design, create, and apply new, actuarially sound methodologies for evaluating program effectiveness and shared savings.

• Extract, cleanse, and manipulate complex data sets to establish independent valuation models.

• Serve as the main actuarial representative for strategic initiatives.

• Function as a strategic communicator, simplifying highly complex actuarial methodologies and financial implications into engaging, easily understandable narratives for non-technical executive stakeholders.

• Build the operational framework to convert clinical interventions and operational results into solid, justifiable financial forecasts and enterprise financial statements.

• Evaluate the overarching operational workflow of the strategic valuation process and suggest proactive enhancements to boost efficiency, accuracy, and organizational alignment.


⛳️ Requirements

• ASA or FSA designation.

• Bachelor's degree.

• Minimum of two years of actuarial experience.

• Advanced technical skills in data extraction and modeling (e.g., SQL, Python, R, and/or SAS).

• Capability to navigate uncertainty, define undefined business challenges, and independently implement quantitative solutions without a predefined guide.

• Previous experience in Actuarial Consulting and Value-Based Care analytics.

• Experience in evaluating the financial implications of clinical programs, care management initiatives, or medical cost trends.
