Assistant Vice President – Software Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug both new and existing software systems, applications, and/or components for market sale or proprietary software.

• Draft technical specifications based on conceptual designs and articulated business requirements.

• Regularly assess development progress against established plans and collaborate with lead developers, project managers, or management to ensure successful business outcomes.

• Adhere to the team's established Agile practices, which include supporting both short- and long-term planning, cross-functional collaboration, and demonstrating functional software.

• Provide comprehensive metrics related to turnaround times, workloads, Kickbacks (and their reasons), and test coverage.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving platforms, programming languages, and web/database technologies.

• Stay informed about business initiatives and objectives, especially as they pertain to infrastructure and development architecture challenges.

• Act as a technical authority on development projects, engaging in the entire development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, and deployment.

• Assess new platforms, technologies, and software products/techniques to evaluate their feasibility and the potential benefits of integrating their functionalities into the company's offerings.

• Make design choices that promote leverageability, potential reuse, componentization, extensibility, maintainability, and minimal coupling.

• Strategically align development capabilities with the future requirements of our customers.

• Offer solutions and alternatives for challenges affecting timelines, scalability, and performance factors related to production, implementation, and technological advancements for SitusAMC.

• Aim to achieve a higher level of CMMI and Agile practices; develop repeatable processes; ensure that documentation is created, maintained, trained upon, readily accessible, versioned, and managed under change control.

• Assist in the creation and upkeep of comprehensive software engineering and development plans and processes.

• Continuously enhance, design, or synthesize processes and software that significantly differentiates the SitusAMC brand and services.

• Oversee and guide new product initiatives to ensure compliance with architectural principles, drive engineering decisions based on sound business requirements, and identify opportunities for technology improvements that can lower development costs.

• Provide detailed metrics related to turnaround times, workloads, Kickbacks (and their reasons), and test coverage.

• Recommend strategies to maintain cost-effectiveness and competitiveness.

• Advise and mentor team members as a point of escalation.

• Undertake additional activities as assigned by your manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering, information systems preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A minimum of 6+ years of industry and/or relevant experience, typically including at least 1+ years in a Senior Associate level role or a similar external position.

• Strong knowledge and understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis, Design, and Programming.

• Proficient in multiple programming languages, software development environments, and software development lifecycle procedures, including but not limited to: .Net, C#, AWS, SQL, and Javascript.

• Familiarity with software development frameworks, API integrations, RESTful web services, as well as structured and unstructured databases.

• Experience managing user experience with a focus on human-centered designs.

• Experience utilizing Azure DevOps, Jira, Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, or similar tools.

• Demonstrated interest and ability to learn additional coding languages as necessary.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational, administrative, and documentation abilities.

• Proven analytical and creative problem-solving capabilities.

• Ability to manage competing priorities, delays, or unforeseen events.

• Experience with application integration and developing APIs for rapidly integrating products.

• Background working on Agile Scrum and DevOps-aligned delivery teams.

• Experience with estimating software development efforts.

• Proven experience building software products across various platforms and industries.

• Familiarity with developing cloud-native applications and/or migrating applications to the cloud, preferably AWS.

• Ability to work independently and creatively, learn quickly, and tackle complex problems in high-pressure environments.

• Adaptability to changing environments and readiness to adjust approaches or methods to best suit the situation.
