This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Develop, implement, educate, and monitor clinical programs centered on Infection Control and Disease Prevention.
• Assist facilities in adhering to State and Federal Medicare and Medicaid survey regulations, as well as licensure and certification requirements.
• Support facilities during endemic, epidemic, and pandemic disease outbreaks.
• Aid Administrators and Directors of Nursing in creating plans of correction and addressing allegations of compliance for survey deficiencies.
• Oversee compliance with plans of correction submitted to State Health Departments.
• Manage reportable events, review and approve documentation, and assist with corrective measures.
• Provide training to facility administration and staff on nursing standards and survey regulations.
• Assist with the recruitment, training, and disciplinary actions related to Directors of Nursing.
• Conduct monthly Regional DON meetings and offer training on clinical programs and DON development.
• Support clinical, MDS, dietary, social services, and regulatory policies and educational initiatives.
• Aid DONs in establishing staffing structures and nursing PPD.
• Visit facilities to assess and train clinical staff, as well as develop action plans.
• Attend regional meetings to provide clinical insights.
• Offer guidance and direction to the MDS department.
• Conduct monthly Regional MDS meetings and monitor or assist with RAC audits.
• Create regional tracking and trending reports for clinical metrics and CMS 5-star ratings.
• Assist facilities in enhancing CMS 5-star ratings and managing clinical risks.
• Support facility defense attorneys with lawsuits, depositions, reports, and document production.
• Review record requests to ensure appropriate document release.
• May serve as an onsite Interim DON.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or an equivalent accredited nursing program degree.
• Active professional nursing license in good standing with the State Board of Nursing at all times.
• Preferably 20+ years of clinical and management experience.
• MDS certification is preferred.
• Experience in Legal Nurse Consulting or Risk Management is preferred.
• Previous experience as a Regional or Corporate Nurse is preferred.
• Familiarity with CMS/OIG surveys, including Jeopardy citations, is preferred.
• Knowledge of PCC.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite products.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Capability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
• Ability to present information and respond to inquiries from managers and employees.
• Skill in applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Proficient in solving practical problems and interpreting written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
• Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer is required.
• Willingness and ability to travel by auto or airline as necessary.
• Travel by auto or airline may be required as part of the role.
