
Assistant Project Manager – K-12 Schools

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Assist the Project Manager in managing the scope, schedule, and budget for designated K-12 projects from pre-construction to project closeout.
• Create and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.
• Aid in contract administration by monitoring submittals, RFIs, change orders, and payment applications.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants on design inquiries and unresolved issues.
• Support the on-site Construction Manager and Project Manager in supervising field activities.
• Prepare draft status updates and meeting materials for district stakeholders and facilities personnel.
• Assist in procurement and bidding processes, including scope documentation, bid tabulation, and contractor qualification tracking.
• Ensure compliance with public bidding regulations, prevailing wage standards, and district procurement policies.
• Organize project phasing and sequencing in accordance with the school calendar.
• Monitor project-level risks and document the actions taken for mitigation.
• Aid in project closeout tasks, including punch lists, as-builts, warranties, and final documentation.
• Generate project status reports and presentation materials for both internal and district evaluations.
• Report directly to the Project Manager.
• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• 1–3 years of experience in construction, project coordination, or a comparable field.
• Exposure to K-12 or public education projects is an advantage.
• A working knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, and cost/budget tracking, or a strong willingness to learn.
• Familiarity with public bidding, prevailing wage, and school construction standards is a plus.
• Proficiency in, or a readiness to learn, project management and scheduling software such as Procore, Primavera P6, or MS Project.
• Strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
• Ability to coordinate effectively among owners, designers, and contractors.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Capability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, or a desire to develop this ability.
• PMP or CAPM certification, or progress towards certification, is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Willingness to attend occasional evening meetings.
• Openness to regular travel between school and project sites, which may include overnight stays.
• A valid driver's license is required.
