This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee the evaluation, creation, and negotiation of commercial leases, subleases, amendments, and associated real estate agreements.
• Collaborate with company leadership, real estate brokers, external counsel, and project management teams to facilitate transactions efficiently.
• Provide consistent updates to stakeholders regarding ongoing negotiations, critical decisions, risks, and timelines.
• Identify and mitigate legal and business risks linked to real estate transactions, escalating significant issues to the General Counsel when necessary.
• Manage essential lease dates and obligations, such as renewals, options, expirations, rent escalations, and other key portfolio milestones.
• Assist in optimizing lease portfolios, managing risks, supporting clinical office build-outs, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including ADA requirements.
• Enhance and maintain lease templates, negotiation playbooks, legal workflows, and portfolio management practices.
• Utilize lease management, contract management, document automation, and AI tools to boost accuracy, transparency, and operational efficiency.
• Manage real estate issues from negotiation through continuous portfolio management while reporting to the General Counsel.
• Juris Doctor degree from a recognized law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar.
• 3-5 years of legal experience in drafting and negotiating commercial real estate leases and related agreements.
• Strong skills in drafting, negotiation, communication, analysis, and problem-solving.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the capability to discern practical solutions while safeguarding the organization from risks.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple active matters, and collaborate effectively with legal and business partners in a remote setting.
• Experience in the healthcare industry or familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements and clinical office build-outs (desirable).
• Knowledge of ADA compliance requirements for commercial spaces (desirable).
• Experience with lease management systems, contract management platforms, document automation, or AI prompting (desirable).
