This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and oversee a comprehensive global patent prosecution strategy in alignment with product roadmaps and market indicators.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to identify critical innovations across CrowdStrike’s products and technologies.
• Make informed strategic decisions regarding filings, continuations, and abandonments based on business value, competitive landscape, and jurisdictional priorities.
• Utilize portfolio analytics, competitive intelligence, prosecution data, and business metrics to pinpoint coverage gaps and assess portfolio robustness.
• Communicate the performance and priorities of intellectual property (IP) to senior leaders.
• Manage CrowdStrike’s global trademark portfolio, encompassing filing, prosecution, and maintenance activities.
• Supervise trademark clearance processes for product names, features, campaign terms, and brand expansions.
• Handle trademark renewals, watch services, and opposition or cancellation proceedings.
• Provide guidance on copyright ownership, registration, and protection for software, publications, documentation, and content assets.
• Develop and sustain copyright policies.
• Offer strategic counsel on trade secret protection.
• Assist with IP licensing, negotiations, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities, third-party demands, and patent analyses.
• Manage external patent counsel to guarantee high-quality, timely, and cost-effective work.
• Oversee patent and trademark dockets, budgets, and external expenditures.
• Evaluate, implement, and govern AI-enabled workflows throughout the IP function.
• Promote responsible AI adoption with quality controls, confidentiality safeguards, and attorney oversight.
• Train internal teams and external counsel on appropriate AI utilization in IP workflows.
• Measure and enhance operational leverage through AI and automation.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
• Active bar membership in the state of residence.
• Eligibility to practice as registered in-house counsel.
• Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
• Over 15 years of pertinent IP experience, including team management.
• Extensive experience in identifying, prosecuting, and securing patentable technologies in software, SaaS, cloud, cybersecurity, and/or AI sectors.
• Expertise in managing global patent portfolios, including strategies for jurisdictional filings, continuations, abandonments, and maintenance decisions.
• Knowledge of trademark, copyright, and trade secret law.
• Demonstrated fluency in AI and the ability to implement and govern practical AI applications in legal and IP workflows.
• Proven capability to manage substantial budgets effectively.
• Established experience in leveraging AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and drive business results.
• Experience with cybersecurity software and SaaS technologies is an advantage.
• A background in engineering or computer science is a plus.
• Experience in supporting IP licensing, M&A, and/or open source initiatives is a bonus.
