Assistant Corporate Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily execution of the year-end audit, acting as the main operational lead and primary contact for auditors.

• Manage the end-to-end PBC (Prepared by Client) list: track all auditor requests, assign internal responsibilities, establish due dates ahead of audit deadlines, and escalate any delays.

• Develop and sustain an audit-ready close: guarantee that workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting documents meet audit-quality standards at month-end.

• Coordinate and draft technical accounting memos for intricate areas (revenue recognition, acquisition accounting, lease accounting, equity).

• Track auditor fees against budget; identify scope creep early and escalate to the VP Corporate Controller when out-of-scope requests are misidentified as in-scope.

• Spearhead interim audit preparation to advance testing and alleviate year-end time constraints.

• Lead and review the reconciliation of general ledger accounts prepared by the accounting team with subsidiary records monthly, ensuring accuracy for items such as bank statements, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses.

• Prepare and post adjusting journal entries (AJEs) while ensuring correct classification.

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including account classifications and transactional support.

• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

• Collaborate with operations and other departments to ensure precise revenue and receivables reporting.

• Analyze budget versus actual variances and summarize findings for management review.

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting obligations.

• Contribute to process enhancements and offer recommendations to reinforce internal controls.

• Assist with FP&A activities and broader corporate finance initiatives as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; CPA certification is preferred.

• 3–5 years of experience in public accounting or private company accounting with comprehensive financial statement responsibilities.

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting standards, and financial reporting.

• Demonstrated technical accounting abilities, including the capability to interpret and apply complex accounting guidance.

• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Sage Intacct or similar financial systems is preferred.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly.

• Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.

• Prior experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.

• Previous involvement in managing an external audit process; candidates who have overseen the PBC list and auditor relationship are highly preferred.

• Experience with Big 4 or large regional audit firms is preferred.

• Familiarity with reporting timelines and investor requirements for PE-backed companies.
