• Take ownership of the overall architecture and scope for your projects, leading teams to design and implement Azure solutions that fulfill established goals related to value, security, scalability, reliability, performance, and cost.
• Act as the technical lead and subject matter expert for your engagements, guiding consultants and engineers to ensure that implementations remain in accordance with the architecture and standards.
• Employ sound engineering practices—such as clear interfaces, modular design, and testability—to create dependable and maintainable solutions within your primary domain.
• Provide architectural guidance throughout the implementation phase, including design and pull-request reviews, shaping cloud patterns and guardrails, and offering practical alternatives to assist teams in overcoming obstacles.
• Leverage AI tools to expedite tasks such as coding, testing, and documentation, sharing effective practices to ensure they become repeatable successes for teams and clients.
• Create sophisticated semantic models utilizing star schemas, DAX, and Power Query.
• Advise clients on Power BI architecture, governance, and strategies for deployment.
• Lead discovery and requirements sessions for your workstreams, clarifying scope, dependencies, and risks, while shaping a prioritized backlog with clear acceptance criteria aligned with business outcomes.
• Simplify complex technical subjects in straightforward language for both technical and non-technical audiences, consistently linking technical decisions back to client objectives.
• Foster trust with managers and product owners, influencing priorities and roadmaps in ways that advance the client’s long-term interests.
• Enable teams to maintain stable velocity and low defect rates by providing clear architecture, interfaces, and automation throughout build, test, and deployment, designing for incremental delivery with a well-defined Definition of Done.
• Align multiple teams with shared outcomes, contracts, and integration points, ensuring that dependencies are identified early, owned, and tracked throughout the delivery process.
• Support effective Agile practices by ensuring that the architecture and backlog structure facilitate incremental delivery, a clear Definition of Done, and data-informed adjustments based on telemetry and feedback.
• Mentor colleagues through pairing, design reviews, and constructive feedback that enhances design skills, technical judgment, and confidence, with a focus on senior engineers and technical leads.
• Contribute to hiring and growth by participating in technical interviews, calibration discussions, and mentorship across projects.
• Engage in business development by identifying opportunities across all capabilities (beyond your own specialty) and communicating them to the sales director.
• Collaborate with sales and account leaders on pursuits by defining the cloud vision, contributing architectural insights, and participating in client workshops, demos, and roadmap discussions.
• Produce solution options, high-level designs, and estimates in your areas of expertise, clearly documenting assumptions, dependencies, and risks, and explaining how proposed approaches drive business value and mitigate risk.
• Create and maintain reusable assets—such as runbooks, workshops, starter repositories, and templates—that facilitate consistent solution delivery by engineers.
• Advocate for modern frameworks, patterns, tools, and AI-assisted practices that enhance quality, speed, or reliability in a secure and responsible manner.
• Actively participate in enablement efforts that foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience delivering solutions in a primary domain such as application development, cloud platform engineering, DevOps, or data and analytics.
• 3+ years of experience in solution architecture and leading development or engineering teams.
• 7+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or 5+ years in consulting.
• Extensive expertise in Power BI, including:
• Design of enterprise reports and dashboards.
• Advanced skills in DAX, M, and Power Query, along with performance optimization experience.
• Administration of Power BI Service and deployment pipelines.
• Deployment of cloud-based solutions utilizing Microsoft Azure data services, such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL DB.
• Management of Power BI tenant and workspace to support development, testing, and deployment.
• Experience with analytics and custom visualizations for Power BI using Python and R.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in optimizing analytical queries.
• Proven experience leading hybrid and remote teams while maintaining alignment, quality, and predictable delivery across different time zones.
• Expertise in at least one major public cloud platform, with a strong preference for Azure.
• In-depth understanding of core concepts, languages, frameworks, and design patterns in your primary domain, with the ability to apply them for building robust and maintainable systems.
• Experience with AI-augmented development and integrating AI or machine learning capabilities into solutions through APIs, libraries, or cloud-based AI services.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments, including backlog refinement and iteration planning.
• Consulting or professional services experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with key cloud services relevant to your domain, such as messaging, compute, data, security, networking, and integration.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and the adoption of new cloud technologies.
• Capability to be hands-on with implementation while also designing and articulating complex cloud architectures.
