This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a hands-on technical authority and contributor to solution architecture for Empower’s cloud and data frameworks.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects, senior architects, business leaders, IT teams, and the Innovation Lab.
• Develop solution architectures in alignment with a cohesive IT data strategy.
• Document target-state architectures, reference architectures, and essential dependencies.
• Design and facilitate the modernization and migration of intricate systems to scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud architectures.
• Work alongside delivery teams throughout the implementation process.
• Assess and prototype new technologies and applications, including Generative AI and Advanced Analytics.
• Contribute to business cases and provide recommendations.
• Implement and operationalize architectural standards, best practices, and governance expectations.
• Collaborate with business and engineering teams to develop end-to-end solutions.
• Offer architectural guidance on process design, system orchestration, and enterprise integration.
• Advocate for security, resilience, and scalability across data platforms and solutions.
• Create reusable patterns, decision documentation, and lessons learned.
• Support full-stack development teams during solution design and implementation.
• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in delivering data-intensive solutions.
• At least 1 year of proven ownership in solution design for moderately complex initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience in various data-focused roles, including data engineering, ETL/ELT, data architecture, database administration, BI or analytics engineering, data science, or data governance.
• Proficiency in architecture frameworks, performance optimization, availability, caching, monitoring, scalability, and security.
• Strong expertise in data and cloud architecture; AWS experience preferred.
• Familiarity with systems such as Snowflake or Redshift.
• Ability to convert complex data into actionable business insights and reporting solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Data engineering experience encompassing ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration, data quality controls, and batch/near real-time workloads.
• Experience with streaming and event-driven data using Kafka or Kinesis.
• API and integration experience, including API governance, versioning, security, and event-driven integration.
• Experience in data platform modernization using Spark or comparable distributed computing solutions.
• Knowledge of data security and privacy, including encryption, masking/tokenization, access controls, and auditability.
• Experience in cloud cost and performance, including FinOps, workload rightsizing, storage optimization, and performance engineering.
• Familiarity with DevOps for data, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and Kubernetes or EKS.
• Applied AI and GenAI experience, including retrieval, evaluation, monitoring, and responsible AI practices.
• Broad polyglot engineering experience with Java, microservices, and third-party API integrations.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect are advantageous.
