AR Billing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Ensure the final resolution of outstanding balances owed by insurance and guarantors.

• Follow up on and resubmit claims that are not recorded.

• File appeals for claims that have been denied in error.

• Collect balances from guarantors according to established policies.

• Communicate with payers through electronic means and telephone calls.

• Process refunds as necessary.

• Oversee the daily operations of team lead direct reports.

• Resolve billing issues within the Revenue Cycle department.

• Inform office staff and the Revenue Cycle Director about incorrect filing issues that lead to claim denials.

• Build relationships with payer representatives to address claims payments, denials, policies, and issues.

• Monitor aged account balances for insurance and guarantors to ensure compliance with MGMA-aligned corporate benchmarks.

• Ensure that daily production and quality standards align with written policies and procedures.

• Report daily progress and issues to the Revenue Cycle Director.

• Ensure that documentation supports write-offs, collection agency transfers, and adjustments to accounts.

• Conduct random audits across all positions to ensure policy and procedure compliance.

• Maintain collaborative relationships with Supervisors and Team Leaders for effective communication, cross-training, and resolution of problems.

• Adhere to the Corporate Confidentiality Policy.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of medical billing and experience with various insurance plans.

• High School diploma or equivalent qualification.

• Ability to solve practical problems and handle a range of concrete variables.

• Capability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduling instructions.

• Comprehensive knowledge of computer information systems.

• Ability to satisfactorily perform essential job duties.

• Capacity to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear.

• Frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
