Applied Innovation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.

📋 Description

• Design, create, test, and implement tailored business applications, APIs, and integrations.

• Collaborate directly with CVA employees, on-site staff, and growers to identify issues and translate them into functional software solutions.

• Take ownership of features from inception to production, including ongoing support.

• Deploy and release software; oversee production applications; troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise in production.

• Integrate applications with CVA's ERP system, Microsoft 365, cloud services, vendor APIs, and other data sources.

• Utilize AI-assisted development and conduct thorough reviews of generated code, tests, and configurations.

• Create and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.

• Assist the Applied Innovation Analyst in producing materials that facilitate routine support.

• Engage in code reviews and adhere to best practices for version control, testing, and release management.

• Provide initial support for developed applications and escalate issues related to infrastructure, identity, and security.

• Participate in technical decision-making and assess, recommend tools, platforms, and methodologies.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• No direct supervisory responsibilities unless specifically designated.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of three years of experience in building and supporting business software in a professional setting.

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and application framework, such as TypeScript/JavaScript with React or Next.js, C#, or Python.

• Experience with relational databases and SQL, including schema design, query writing, and troubleshooting against actual data.

• Understanding of cloud fundamentals, including application deployment and hosting, authentication, secrets management, logging, and monitoring using AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.

• Knowledge of system and data integration through APIs and file interfaces.

• Strong troubleshooting abilities, including problem reproduction, cause identification, and resolution.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with non-technical users.

• Capability to sit and stand for extended periods.

• Dexterity to effectively use a computer keyboard and mouse.

• Ability to occasionally lift and transport computer equipment and peripherals.

• A Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field is preferred.

• Working proficiency with AI-assisted development is preferred.

• Experience with ERP integration or other systems of record is preferred.

• Experience with mobile or field-facing applications is preferred.

• Background in agriculture, commodities, logistics, or cooperatives is preferred.
