This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Work closely with the VP on prompt architecture, workflow design, and product roadmap, taking a hands-on approach in shaping the development process.
• Take ownership of end-to-end feature delivery, managing everything from the Postgres schema to the API layer and the React user interface.
• Develop and sustain multi-step AI pipelines that include prompt chaining, structured output parsing, confidence scoring, failure recovery, and audit-trail logging.
• Integrate third-party financial data APIs into workflows for production tools.
• Create processes for the ingestion of financial documents, converting uploaded spreadsheets and structured reports into typed data models for subsequent AI processing.
• Maintain and enhance the deterministic pre-processing and heuristic layers to ensure AI-generated outputs are reliable enough for audits.
• Contribute to the framework for evaluating AI outputs, which includes structured test inputs, expected outputs, and scoring rubrics.
• Collaborate across functions with finance practitioners, product teams, design, and leadership to define project scope and provide constructive feedback on specifications that may be lacking.
• Proven experience in production full-stack TypeScript development: delivered real systems rather than side projects.
• Strong expertise in Node.js backend development, including REST APIs, middleware authentication, asynchronous pipelines with batching, concurrency limits, retries, and timeouts.
• Proficient in React and TypeScript for developing complex user interfaces: managing state with Zustand, validating schemas with Zod, and ensuring views remain responsive at scale.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and microservice architectures: understanding of failure modes (partial writes, retries, ordering, observability) even if you haven't managed a microservice deployment from start to finish.
• Hands-on experience with production-level LLM work using AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, or the Anthropic SDK at significant throughput levels.
• Experience with multi-step prompt workflows, including chaining, structured output extraction, confidence thresholds, and maintaining graceful degradation.
• Proven ability to debug AI issues in production, with a clear understanding of where prompt challenges end and infrastructure problems begin.
• Strong command of Postgres for data modeling related to workflow and run-oriented schemas, indexing strategies, and troubleshooting queries at scale.
• Experience in designing versioned configuration and audit-trail schemas, particularly in compliance contexts where append-only structures are critical.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, allowing you to convey technical decisions clearly to finance practitioners and product specifications to engineering teams.
• Initiative-driven: you propose alternatives when specifications are flawed and actively address issues without waiting for direction.
• Ability to work cross-functionally without friction, engaging with finance, product, design, and leadership teams, not just fellow engineers.
• Comfortable taking ownership of a feature from schema design to UI implementation without the need for handoffs.
• Flexible remote or hybrid working options.
• 25 days of paid holiday in addition to bank holidays.
• One extra day of annual leave for each year of service, up to a total of 30 days.
• A day off to celebrate your birthday.
• Access to mental health resources, wellbeing programs, and professional coaching.
• Family-friendly policies to support work-life balance.
• A budget for fitness and wellness initiatives.
• A MacBook Pro provided for your work.
• A $200 budget for setting up your home office.
• A budget allocated for training and development opportunities.
