Applied AI Engineer, Artificial Intelligence, Work From Home

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Develop features powered by AI that are seamlessly integrated into authentic insurance workflows.

• Create and enhance interactions based on LLMs across both customer-facing and internal systems.

• Construct prompts, reasoning pathways, and structured AI outputs tailored for production scenarios.

• Assess model performance utilizing real-world data, feedback mechanisms, and experimental approaches.

• Enhance the reliability of AI outputs by implementing guardrails, fallback strategies, and validation layers.

• Collaborate with backend engineers to incorporate AI functionalities into APIs and workflows.

• Design and execute automation features driven by AI, such as chat interfaces, recommendations, and decision support systems.

• Evaluate user behavior and model responses to facilitate ongoing improvements in AI performance.

• Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver comprehensive AI features.

• Play a role in AI system design choices that prioritize usability and real-world effectiveness.

• Ensure the delivery of reliable, consistent, and production-ready AI features across various workflows.

• Enhance AI interactions for users and boost task completion rates.

• Guarantee that model outputs are quantifiable, testable, and continually advancing.

• Decrease manual tasks within insurance processes through automation powered by AI.

• Empower product teams to deploy AI features safely with controlled behaviors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong foundation in software engineering within production environments.

• Proven experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) is essential.

• Hands-on experience with LLMs, including those from OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source alternatives.

• Understanding of prompt engineering, structured outputs, and usage patterns of tools.

• Background in building or integrating AI features into actual products.

• Solid comprehension of API-based system integration.

• Ability to critically assess AI outputs using data and user feedback.

• Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, or evaluation methodologies.

• Strong product awareness with an emphasis on user experience.

• Proficient in working within fast-paced, globally distributed teams.

• Must be prepared to complete a 60-minute coding assessment.

• Familiarity with A/B Testing, LLM APIs, Node.js, NoSQL, Pinecone, Python, REST APIs, SQL, vector databases, and Weaviate.
