Application Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Oversee and enhance the performance of 100+ Overview.ai vision inspection cameras at customer sites throughout Hanoi.

• Provide swift troubleshooting solutions to minimize production interruptions.

• Conduct regular preventive maintenance and system health assessments.

• Manage and coordinate a small team of contractors for routine operations.

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Overview.ai vision inspection systems on newly established production lines.

• Work with a variety of PLC platforms and protocols, such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, and OPC UA.

• Ensure the smooth integration of AI inspection systems with factory automation equipment.

• Utilize multimeters and oscilloscopes to identify and resolve electrical and signal quality issues.

• Provide on-site technical support and expert guidance to customers.

• Organize training sessions for customer personnel on system operation and basic troubleshooting.

• Foster strong partnerships with factory teams, production management, and technical staff.

• Document and report recurring issues to improve product features.

• Tackle technical challenges, including double triggering, camera response issues, or lighting variances.

• Modify PLC ladder logic as required to address integration challenges.

• Adjust inspection parameters to reduce false rejects while maintaining high detection accuracy.

• Collaborate with engineering teams at headquarters for system enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in automation, with expertise across various PLC systems.

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical circuits using diagnostic instruments (multimeters, oscilloscopes).

• Strong grasp of electrical concepts, including NPN/PNP sensor technology and signal conditioning.

• Familiarity with PLC ladder logic and capability to implement necessary modifications.

• Experience in managing contractors or small technical teams.

• Proficiency in industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, OPC UA).

• Ability to modify circuits (e.g., resistors, capacitors) to fix signal issues.

• Knowledge of machine vision lighting and triggering systems.

• Exceptional practical diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.

• Working proficiency in English for technical documentation and collaboration with headquarters.

• Strong communication skills for effective client and team interactions.

• Proficiency in Mandarin is a significant advantage.

• Proficiency in Malay is a valuable asset, though not essential.
