This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Plan, design, develop, implement, and/or provide support for moderately complex new or revised processes or systems.
• Create system specifications, prototypes, and documentation, which includes structure charts, screen designs, data flow diagrams, file layouts, report layouts, and job run descriptions.
• Ensure assigned deliverables are completed on schedule and meet required quality standards.
• Meet service level objectives.
• Comprehend user requirements and generate activity and progress reports for project tasks.
• Develop estimates for project tasks.
• Identify possible project impacts and suggest alternative solutions.
• Collaborate as a team member on application engineering activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or comparable work experience.
• Experience in designing, developing, implementing, or supporting moderately complex information systems.
• Experience in identifying, analyzing, and resolving business issues.
• Experience in building or supporting mainframe, distributed systems, or web-based systems.
• Knowledge of the design and development of mainframe, distributed, and/or web-based systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as COBOL II and Java.
• Familiarity with operating systems like MVS, Windows XP, and UNIX.
• Knowledge of database management systems such as IMS DB, DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Knowledge of online communication systems including IMS DC and CICS.
• Familiarity with system development tools such as Endevor, IMS Expert, Xpediter, SQA Team Test, Eclipse, and Java.
• Proficiency in essential PC tools, including MS Office.
• Understanding of systems operation practices.
• Knowledge of security and control procedures.
• Familiarity with structured systems analysis, design, programming, and testing.
• Understanding of iterative and rapid programming concepts.
• Knowledge of use-case requirements analysis.
• Preferred: experience in database design and/or modeling.
• Preferred: expertise in user interface design.
• Preferred: experience with web applications or mainframe systems.
• Capability to perform the essential duties of the role.
