Application Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.

📋 Description

• Perform comprehensive security evaluations of applications utilizing both manual and automated testing methods.

• Detect and assess vulnerabilities within web and mobile applications.

• Work collaboratively with development teams to embed security best practices throughout the application development lifecycle.

• Create and implement security measures to safeguard sensitive data and maintain application confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

• Execute penetration testing to replicate real-world cyber-attacks and uncover weaknesses.

• Prepare detailed reports that include suggested remediation strategies.

• Assist in incident response efforts regarding application security incidents.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to probe and resolve security incidents.

• Ensure applications adhere to pertinent security standards, regulations, and industry best practices.

• Track emerging security threats and industry developments to mitigate potential risks.

• Develop and conduct secure coding training for development teams.

• Update stakeholders on security vulnerabilities and recommended mitigation approaches.

• Oversee and configure security tools for ongoing application security monitoring and analysis.

• Remain up-to-date with advancements in security technology and incorporate them into the security framework.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience as an Application Security Specialist or in a comparable position.

• Comprehensive understanding of application security principles, practices, and prevalent vulnerabilities.

• Practical experience with security testing tools and methodologies.

• Familiarity with secure coding practices and application security frameworks.

• Strong grasp of web application architecture and cloud-based environments.

• Certifications such as OSCP, CEH, LPT, GPEN, CISSP, or equivalent are advantageous.

• Analytical mindset with robust problem-solving capabilities.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Capacity to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

• Detail-oriented with an emphasis on delivering high-quality outcomes.
