This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Serving as the primary technical liaison between the client and TOPPAN.
• Overseeing all development and technical service initiatives for designated accounts and markets.
• Collaborating closely with the Commercial Team to identify and effectively commercialize opportunities in flexible packaging.
• Directing technical efforts to enhance sales of existing structures, innovate new flexible packaging solutions, achieve cost efficiencies, and elevate product performance.
• Establishing and nurturing robust technical relationships with customers.
• Converting customer requirements into TOPPAN specifications and formulating manufacturing guidelines.
• Ensuring the product portfolio aligns with business objectives and customer needs.
• Setting project success criteria, analyzing data to draw conclusions, making technical recommendations, and overseeing project management.
• Designing and leading pilot, production, and filling/packing trials.
• Compiling trial reports for both internal and external distribution.
• Coordinating activities to achieve goals using available internal and external resources.
• Delivering regular technical service activities.
• Creating written and verbal presentations, project plans, updates, and periodic reports.
• Traveling domestically and internationally to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, customers, conferences, and other innovation partners.
• Keeping thorough and accurate work records, including documentation for intellectual property protection.
• In-depth knowledge of material science (OPP, PET, PE films, Nylon, paper, and foil laminations).
• Experience in new product development, flexible packaging applications, project management, and customer engagement.
• Significant expertise in key growth sectors within food packaging, such as retort, hot fill, hard-to-hold products, personal care, home care, and consumer healthcare packaging.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, preferably in Engineering, Food Science, Packaging, or Plastics.
• 5-10 years of experience in Flexible Packaging Product Development and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with processes including printing (roto/flexo), laminating (adhesive and extrusion), coating, slitting, pouching, and form/fill/seal conversion.
• 5-10 years of experience in developing packaging for retort, hot fill, hard-to-hold, and liquid applications.
